First Day
On your first day, prepare for your safety orientation and introduction to the environment. It’s helpful to bring a pen and notepad with you to take notes. Feel comfortable asking questions. It’s far better to ask for clarification now than to assume you know the answer to something. Take time to introduce yourself to the people you’ll be working closely with on the job.
First Week
Now it’s time to get your feet wet. Take initiative but don’t be afraid to receive feedback. This is the time you’ll have to learn the company’s specific processes and not just fall into the way you’ve done it before. Pay special attention to the procedures and build new habits that will be a benefit to you and your new employer. As you settle into the role, now you’ll begin to feel more comfortable with the work you’re doing. Prioritize the things that are most important for the job and be willing to work hard to achieve your personal goals along with the business goals. At this point, you should have a mentor in the company who will be able to answer more questions as you have them, even if they’re things you feel like you should already know.
