On the job, you may have some people you interact with on a regular basis. Reach out to them to create on onsite support system. It doesn’t have to be formal, just a group of people who also understand the same pressures of the job.

Eating well, exercising, and getting the proper amount of sleep can all contribute to overall mental wellness. Don’t give in to the temptation of unhealthy foods if you’re feeling stressed. Pay attention to healthy eating at work and at home. While your shipyard job is likely active, making additional time to exercise is also important. And, of course, pay special attention to your sleep cycle and create a nighttime routine to help promote healthier sleep.
- Take time to relax. It can be easier said than done, but it’s important to take time for yourself to relax and renew. On your days off, do what makes you personally happy. You can travel away from home or spend time with friends and family. You can fish, watch sports, enjoy a good book, go to the movies. Whatever you enjoy doing, recharge on the days off so you can return to work rested and ready to tackle the next project.
